Gala Les Olivier: Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais is crowned with four trophies for his first solo show

“I'm really proud to do comedy in Quebec, we have a receptive audience that loves its comedians.” Big winner of the 24th edition of the Olivier on Sunday evening, Pierre-Yves Roy-Demarais was moved by all these honours, he who notably received the coveted Olivier of the year.
Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais picked up where he left off last year. While at the Olivier 2022, he left with three trophies, that of the Olivier of the year had however escaped him in the hands of Mariana Mazza.
Sunday night, he was not going to miss his chance again. Against Sam Breton, Christine Morency, Arnaud Soly and Mathieu Dufour, PYRD was thus crowned Olivier of the year, the very last trophy awarded of the evening at the Pierre-Mercure room.
Rather brief in his thanks during his other speeches, Pierre-Yves was more talkative at the end of the gala, he who wanted to thank the people “who have believed in me from the start, it's really important to encourage young who want to make jokes even if it doesn't look like a lucrative path. »
The comedian was also proud to be part of the new wave of humor. “Tonight the show was really good. I hope it will have given people the taste for going to see shows. I love jokes and I like to do it with you. »
Earlier in the evening, Pierre-Yves saw his first solo, Jokes Chapeau Maman Magie Piano, receive the Olivier du Spectacle d'humour de the year. “It's the most beautiful adventure that has happened to me in my life, that show,” said Pierre-Yves, moved to tears.
Counting the industry gala , presented earlier on Sunday, Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais and his collaborators won four Olivier: Show of the Year, Olivier of the Year, Authors (with Alexandre Forest and David Beaucage) and Direction (Guillaume Girard).
Pierre-Yves also saw two other projects in which he participated (Club Soly and Complètement lycée) receive Olivier awards on Sunday.
