On Wednesday March 6, the Department presented the awards to the three winners of the competition on gender equality. But also to the three winners of the competition on the fight against violence against women.

"With the inclusion of abortion in the Constitution, March 8 Women's Rights Day will be historic this year. France is the first to take this approach", rejoiced Isabelle Fardoux-Jouve, departmental advisor  delegate for gender equality and the fight against discrimination at the time of unveiling the three winning associations of the competition on gender equality. "Even if, she recalled, 130 IVG centers closed in France last year and if some doctors practice surreal excess fees.

The Department involved since 2017

In the Department, Women's Rights Day has been a highlight since 2017. Faithfully sponsored since that date by Sanseverino, who regularly returns to the Gard to support the actions. &amp ;quot;Since 2018, we have brought together associations within a network, signatories of the Together charter for real equality between men and women", explains the departmental advisor. Today, nearly 70 structures are involved.

The aidesauxfemmes.gard.fr platform was also created in order to best inform all those who need support.

200000€ for gender equality

To promote associations which  work on equality, the Department  therefore created a competition whose winners were revealed on Wednesday March 6. "We received thirteen applications, all very good. We voted unanimously for three projects that bring something new to the region, specifies Isabelle Fardoux-Jouve.

A hundred activities in the Gard

"The day of March 8, in Gard, is all year round", welcomes Isabelle Fardoux-Jouve. The Department has also published a program with around a hundred events supported by associations throughout the year. For example: an introduction to women's self-defense on Saturday March 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in Vers-Pont-du-Gard, and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., in Montfrin. Thematic workshop on the diversity of professions to deconstruct stereotypes, Monday March 11, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at France Travail Saint-Cézaire, and Wednesday March 20, at the Maison de la Région, in Nîmes. Or a round table "Is sexism back among young people ?", Tuesday March 12, at 6 p.m., at the Café Napoléon, in Nîmes. Complete program on gard.fr

The first prize (5,000 euros) goes to the First Feminist Festival of the Friends of Prolé, in Nîmes. An eclectic, supportive and intergenerational festival that offers a plural approach to women's rights. Second prize (3000€) at the Boxing club 1980, an association of Vauvert,   for "Boxing is not for girls", an educational and inclusive approach to boxing and a fight against sexism. Third prize (2000€): "Envoyer valser", from the Similaire company, in Alès, which questions gender equality and beliefs.

The Department also rewarded the winners of the competition on the fight against violence: the Etoiles Filantes association, the Paroles Transparentes company and the Riposte association.< /p>

Each year, the Department devotes 200,000€ equality between men and women and 200,000€ in the fight against violence.
