Owner, President and CEO of the Montreal Canadiens, Geoff Molson has been officially named to the Order of Canada.
It was the team’s website that posted an update on the news, recalling that the honor “rewards outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation”. It is indeed one of the highest civilian honors in Canada.
Geoff Molson notably follows in the footsteps of his father Eric, who had for his part been appointed to the Order of Canada in 2007. Andrew Molson, brother of Geoff, also recently received this distinction.
“It is an honor to receive this prestigious nomination, and I accept it with a lot of humility,” said the owner of the Canadiens, in an announcement to this effect made at the end of December. It is with great pride that I follow in the footsteps of my father, who received the Order of Canada several years ago. Today, more than ever, we must continue to support communities in need. ”
