Selon le maire, le nombre d'écoliers, en hausse constante dans la commune, justifie l'arrivée de nouveaux enseignants.
In a letter widely distributed to political and public authorities, the mayor of Rousson, Ghislain Chassary, who is also a departmental councilor, is requesting that teaching positions be opened to the academic director.
The elected official justifies his request with figures to back it up: “We have 140 students in kindergarten compared to 121 last year, an increase in numbers of 15%. In elementary school, the increase is 4.2% with 272 children enrolled compared to 162 counted last June. In total, 413 students in five kindergarten classes and 10 in elementary school attend our two schools compared to 383 last year, an increase of 30 children. This translates into crowded classes: 24 to 30 students per class."
Student numbers are constantly increasing… but not the teachers
The increase in numbers is partly explained by the dynamism of the municipality in terms of urban planning and the installation of new families, often young.
First consequence, no more exemptions are granted to integrate the Rousson establishment for families from outside the municipality.
In his letter, the mayor deplores the lack of anticipation of the administration: “It is very unfortunate that your services did not contact the municipality to integrate this development, while this was your commitment during our meeting at the Jean-Baptiste-Dumas high school. In the construction project of our school we have chosen to provide additional classrooms. They are available equipped with furniture and computer equipment. The additional Atsem position is already included in the 2024 budget. The situation of supervision of Rousson students is not at all satisfactory."
Based on this observation, Ghislain Chassary is calling for the opening of two positions: "One in kindergarten, the other for elementary school".
The visit of the rector, to Alès, planned for this Tuesday, could be an opportunity for the mayor of Rousson to reiterate his request if it had not been well understood.
