Going out in Montpellier: guided tour, exhibition, cinema... ideas for this Monday, June 17

the artist with the severed knuckle Virgil Novarina

Cinema.November 1969. Sigma week, an interdisciplinary festival in Bordeaux, opens for its fifth edition with a happening by Pierre Pinoncelli in front of the Galerie des Beaux-Arts, entitled Mort au pain. A pyre made of baguettes is set on fire in front of the crowd, before the artist, painted from head to toe, takes armfuls of « painted breads » multicolored which are distributed in jubilation. During the same edition, a mummy with bloody bandages wanders the streets of the city, collapsing on the pavement, getting up again, before being taken away by the constabulary. This protest action by Pinoncelli, which has become emblematic, denounced international indifference towards the war which was then ravaging Biafra.

From 8 p.m. to 9:25 p.m. Utopia Cinema, 5 Av. du Dr Pezet, Montpellier. Single rate 6.50 €.
