Golf: great performance by Nîmois de Campagne during the Jean-Lignel trophy

Pantxoa Fournol, Gaspard Doleac, Gaëtan Veillon, Florent Fontanelle and Romain Buttarazzi took 6th place in the French men's club cup, in Mérignies, in the North, last weekend. 

The players from Golf de Campagne in Nîmes achieved a superb performance in the Jean-Lignel Trophy, the French men's club cup, by finishing in sixth place in Mérignies, in the North.
Performance because the Nîmes team finished sixth among 36 teams at the start and the best nine were kept after two days of competition.

Three youngsters under 18

A result all the more remarkable as Campagne lined up three young players – Pantxoa Fournol (16 years old), Gaspard Doleac (16 years old), Gaëtan Veillon (17 years old) – with two experienced players – Florent Fontanelle and Romain Buttarazzi. The Nîmes players were only 13th after the first round (+6 for Veillon, +2 for Doleac and in par for Buttarazzi). But the next day, the former signed a card in par while the latter scored -7, Fournol finishing +6.

The last two rounds were more complicated (+5 and +6 by teams) "with conditions that were not easy to manage but the players were serious all week with an unfailing team spirit”, rejoiced their coach Florent Fontanelle. An encouraging final result that gives great prospects for the future.
