Gennady Golovkin retained his IBF middleweight champion’s belt Friday night in Florida, winning by KO. technique ahead of Kamil Szeremeta.
The Kazakh (41-1-1, 36 KOs) completely dominated his Polish opponent, so much so that the referee decided to stop the fight at the end of the seventh round.
It was Golovkin’s first appearance in the ring since October 2019, when he defeated Sergiy Derevyancheko by unanimous decision of the judges.
Szeremeta (21-1, 5 KOs) was the mandatory contender for the title of “GGG”. His last fight was also in October 2019. He then defeated Oscar Cortes in the undercard of the gala involving Golovkin.
