Ce mardi 13 août, à 18 h 30, la cathédrale d'Alès va résonner avec les harmonies de la "Messe pour les couvents", de François Couperin.

As part of Alès, Scène des mondes, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste cathedral will host, this Tuesday, at the end of the day, an organ concert dedicated to an exceptional work from the 17th century, La messe pour les couvents, published in 1690 by François Couperin Le Grand. This work includes 21 generally short pieces, a number determined by the liturgy of the time, which alternate with the verses in Gregorian chant of the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus…

This Tuesday, at the keyboards of the historic Alès organ, its incumbent, Thierry Martin, will sing the alternating verses from the gallery of the instrument. It should be noted that this organ perfectly corresponds to the French style of Couperin's work, since most of its sound material dates from the 18th century and has all the registers and colors necessary for the interpretation of the Messe pour les couvents. In addition, it should be noted that three cameras will film and record, live, the entire concert, of which a CD can be provided to lovers of early music.

Free entry.
