Frontignan launched its 3rd Olympic and Paralympic Week.
For the 3rd consecutive year, the schools and colleges of Frontignan La Peyrade in partnership with the City are organizing the SOP, Olympic and Paralympic Week, from April 2 to 5, 2024.
Tuesday April 2, the Olympic torch relay took place carried by 732 schoolchildren and college students on a 9 km route from the Marcel-Pagnol elementary school in La Peyrade to Victor-Hugo Park , with stops in each school in the city.
Accompanied by two floats from the festival committee, the Olympic float and the float of the king of blue bellies in a Greek toga, this route ended with the opening ceremony of the Games in the presence of the mayor, Michel Arrouy, and officials.
"This week will allow people to practice a multitude of sports and disabled sports through various workshops, announced the mayor. It allows the link between sport and culture with multidisciplinary aims to bring the values of Olympism and Paralympics to Frontignan, land of champion land of play 2024. It will develop the taste for effort, courage, team spirit, mutual aid, solidarity and inclusion. Faster, higher, stronger, I declare this Olympic and Paralympic week open." The ceremony ended with a Marseillaise sung by these 700 students in blue, black, red, green, yellow, gray, the colors of the Olympic rings representing the five continents.
