The Festival at the Wheel has had its first very successful weekend at the Montréal-Trudeau airport, with the presence of more than 4,000 spectators during its first three days. “It was a great success. The crowd was crazy, ” said one of the organizers, Jean-Sébastien Boudreault.
The skeptics have been confounded. To make a joke in a parking lot of an airport was not a guarantee of success. But the team behind FAUV has obviously delivered the goods.
“The public has been very receptive,” said Jean-Sébastien Boudreault, vice-president for legal affairs at Sportera. For a first like that, we are super happy with it, especially for a gang like us. At the base, it was not our business to be humorous. It is done more in the sport. “
In all, nearly 1800 cars that are displaced for the five shows of the weekend, four of which were sold out. “If we calculate that there were on average 2.5 people per car, it is estimated that there were more than 4,000 people “, said the organizer.
The Major Flooding, Mehdi Bousaidan, Jean-François Mercier, Arnaud Soly, Adib Alkhalidey and Christine Morency were among the clubs invited. Several of them are out-packaged by the event.
“It is certain that it will never be equal to the atmosphere in a room, but I was pleasantly surprised, acknowledged Étienne Dano, who participated in FAUV Friday and Sunday. I had a lot of fun and the organization was excellent. “
“It wasn’t exactly like a real show, but it’s just necessary to override the laughter by the horns, mentioned Arnaud Soly, which was a Sunday. This is not too natural-as-process, but there was a feeling of true show. “
During the performance, spectators were invited to demonstrate their appreciation of jokes by sounding the horn or by turning on their headlights. “People have been very receptive to comedy clubs,” says Jean-Sébastien Boudreault.
Elsewhere in Quebec
The team FAUV hope that the public will go for its second weekend which will take place from Friday to Sunday, still at the Montréal-Trudeau airport. Another edition will be held at Drummondville, on 24 and 25 July.
The organization also works to carry its festival in ” at least two other cities in Quebec “, says Jean-Sébastien Boudreault. Announcements could be made very soon, because the festival covers the last week of July and first of August for the two other editions.
