Her dog was bitten on the throat, ears and paws. She was bitten on the left hand. The incident occurred on July 31 in the Mosson district of Montpellier. The two dogs were not captured.
Two weeks after the events, Sophie, 33, is still in shock. It must be said that this Wednesday, July 31, will forever remain etched in the memory of this Montpellier resident.
Indeed, when she had just left her home, around 6 p.m., with her American bully on a leash, she was attacked by two stray dogs, on rue d'Oxford in the Mosson district.
He jumped on me and bit my left hand
“They came out of nowhere. One was black with a beige muzzle and the other was brown with long hair. The first one started smelling my dog and for no reason he became violent and grabbed him by the throat."
“When I saw that, I tried to pull the leash to get him out of their mouths and that's when the black dog with the beige muzzle jumped on me and bit my left hand. I felt a sharp pain in my middle finger and thumb. He also grabbed my other hand but less violently and scratched my legs and arms."
I screamed like never before
"I screamed like never before. It seemed to scare them and they let go of us. So I ran towards my building. They followed us but I managed to get us to safety in the lobby of my building and immediately called my husband,”, the thirty-year-old woman recounts with some emotion in her voice.
The couple immediately took “their 3-year-old baby” to the vet because he was bleeding profusely from his throat and because he also had nasty sores on his ears and legs.
A trauma that is very present
He was hospitalized for twenty-four hours and placed on antibiotics. Today, he is out of the woods but has several scars and, above all, he has become fearful.
“As soon as I open the front door, he hides under the couch. It's the same for me, I'm traumatized, I'm afraid they'll come back when I go out into the street”, adds his mistress who, herself, was operated on urgently at the Lapeyronie hospital center.
Multi-resistant bacteria
She escaped with severed tendons, a displaced bone and twenty stitches on the two fingers impacted by the bites. She was also placed under treatment due to arthritis caused by a multi-resistant bacteria. This reveals that the dog that attacked her was not vaccinated.
A Chihuahua Devoured by a German Shepherd
PreviousOn July 31, a resident of Cournonsec, a town of 3,300 souls located southwest of Montpellier, also experienced a real nightmare. That day, around 7 o'clock in the morning, while she was quietly walking her two small dogs at the top of the village, a German shepherd, completely free and without a master, appeared out of nowhere.
With her dogs in her arms, she did not have time to understand what was happening as the mastiff had already seized one of the two, a chihuahua, which he devoured before her eyes. Despite the cries of his mistress, no one came out, and the German shepherd ended up killing his dog, despite the blows she gave him.
She herself was bitten on the elbow, in the fight with the animal. However, she managed to leave the scene while the aggressive dog followed her for a moment before heading off towards the scrubland.
"My client has filed a complaint and I will contact the town hall's legal department to inform her of this attack"< /em>, confides Maître Marc Gallix, worried by "this phenomenon which tends to recur in all major cities in France this summer, with dogs which are potentially very dangerous ."
We must prevent this from happening again
An investigation is underway especially since three days after the events, on going to her pharmacy, Sophie learned that an employee of the establishment had also been attacked by two stray dogs in Juvignac.
"She did not have a dog but was bitten on the calf by two dogs who jumped on her. Were they the same as those who attacked us, I don't know, but in any case something must be done to prevent this from happening again."
