The shooter was unaware of the road behind his target. On Friday, a cyclist was hit by several hunting pellets while riding on a road in Eure, reports France bleu.

Three lead injuries

The victim was cycling with a friend, not far from the town of Bernay, when he felt several strange pains: in his back, on his buttocks and in his calves.

The two cyclists contacted the emergency services who arrived on the scene. The victim, aged 56, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A complaint will soon be filed

According to our colleagues, the perpetrator of the attack was a young hunter, in good standing. However, he explained to investigators, he did not pay attention to the road that passed not far from his target.

Aiming at a rabbit that had gone to hide in a bush, he did not realize that vehicles could be driving just behind, unintentionally shooting in the direction of the two cyclists.

The victim decided to file a complaint. The gendarmerie opened an investigation with the support of the OFB, the French Office for Biodiversity, which records hunting accidents.
