He resumes drug trafficking the day after his conviction, in Montpellier

Le maintien en détention a été prononcé. Midi Libre – RICHARD DE HULLESSEN

Ce jeune de 23 ans a déclaré au tribunal avoir oublié qu’il avait été condamné à une interdiction de séjourner dans l’Hérault. Il a logiquement été condamné.

Aged 23 and father of a daughter who lives with her mother, Bilal seems to have difficulty breaking away from selling drugs. Already sentenced in 2022, he was tried three times this year for similar acts!

In January, he received six months for acts committed in 2021. In May, he received a one-year sentence for aggravated theft and participation in a drug trafficking in 2023. So many crimes judged in the Paris region, where he resided until now.

But last April, it was at a deal point at Petit-Bard, in Montpellier, that he was arrested. He received six months of imprisonment and a ban on staying in Hérault.

On July 1, at 4:15 p.m., the police arrested him again while keeping watch in the same neighborhood. Although he admitted that the money found in his possession came from trafficking, he denied having been informed of the presence of the bag containing the drugs, which was a few meters from him. He was carrying a tube intended to store drugs, identical to the one found in this bag…

"Eighteen months in prison is already dizzying"

"Why did you stay in Montpellier despite the ban ?", questioned the judge. "I’had forgotten", Bilal replied. "You resumed trafficking the day after your conviction ?" "I needed money to get back to Paris". "Who were you supposed to go to ?" "I don't know."

"His mother is ill and he has been placed in foster care and in a home since the age of 6, argued his lawyer. Eighteen months in prison (sentence handed down in April), it was already dizzying. It’s not worth adding a new prison sentence."

"We gave him a chance but he didn't take it", noted the prosecutor . He requested one year of imprisonment with continued detention.

He was finally sentenced to 15 months of imprisonment, 6 of which were suspended. The court also revoked the 3 months of suspended sentence corresponding to a sentence of 2022. So much so that he will have to serve twelve months in prison. Continued detention was ordered.
Bilal is banned from staying in Hérault for two years and from possessing a weapon for five years. The 1 482 € found in his possession were confiscated.
