Caleb Graves, an American TikToker, died after finishing the half marathon at Disneyland Anaheim in the United States. He was participating in the Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend, a series of races organized by the park from September 5 to 8, 2024.
The young man gathered nearly 18,000 subscribers on TikTok, thanks to his videos on Disneyland. He was very popular with the Disney vlogging community.
“The man was holding his chest”
Anaheim Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Matt Sutter told Entertainment Weekly that “The runner crossed the line finish line. As soon as he did, one of the marathon employees noticed that the man was holding his chest. .
He has received first aid at around 7am, and “they noticed he was in cardiac arrest” , then was transported to Anaheim Global Medical Center. He was pronounced dead an hour later.
An investigation is underway
< p>The TikToker had already felt unwell the day before, as he explained in a video on his TikTok account on Saturday, September 7, because of the heat according to him.“I fell asleep, I lost control of my body, it was heat stroke. It only happened to me once previously. I don't know what's going on, but I really hope I can finish the race tomorrow morning”. The video was deleted this Wednesday afternoon.
California is in the midst of a heat wave with temperatures soaring above 40 deg;C, according to The Weather Channel. During the semi- marathon the temperature was 39 °C in Anaheim. The sergeant said an investigation is underway to determine whether the heat played a role in the death of the 33-year-old .
