According to our information, Ronan Cottave, 32, sentenced in September 2021 to 15 years of criminal imprisonment for a bloody attempted femicide in Montpellier, escaped from the Muret penitentiary (Haute-Garonne). This individual did not return to his cell on Saturday after a leave.

Since then, he has been actively sought by the police, without result for the moment. But on the side of the civil parties, the concern is growing.

“The family is very worried”

In April 2018, Ronan Cottave could not bear that his girlfriend, a medical student at the Faculty of Montpellier, ended their relationship. He had turned up at her house with a knife, a sword, a bow and arrows. The young woman's screams alerted the neighbors who called the police.

The officers intervened and saved the victim after the individual had already stabbed her seven times, hitting her in the chest and head. The investigation showed that he had already been violent with two former partners.

“The police told us this Monday that he has not been found, it is very worrying because he was obsessed with her, the family is very worried, at the trial he had said that he was madly in love with her, it was love madness” warns Me Luc Abratkiewicz, the lawyer of the young woman who returned to study in her country.
