Occitanie is committed to autonomy: Carole Delga, president of the Region, set foot on the grounds of the future Lattes Autonomy Health Center, planned for 2025. Supported by Mayor Cyril Meunier and Éric Pastor, the objective is clear: to offer a response adapted to the needs of Hérault residents weakened by age, disability or illness. Solutions to make daily life easier, from mobility to hygiene, are at the heart of this ambitious project. For the president, the Center is a key component of her policy of “aging well together” and the Silver economy.

An unusual site visit took place on Friday February 23 afternoon in Lattes, under a clement sky and the watchful eye of committed personalities. Carole Delga, the president of the Occitanie/Pyrenees-Mediterranean region, white helmet screwed on her head, marked with her presence the significant progress of the future building of the Autonomy Health Center which should be delivered in February 2025. < /p>

Accompanied by Cyril Meunier, vice-president of the Metropolis and mayor of Lattes, and Éric Pastor, deputy in charge of the structure, she covered part of these 2,800 m² intended to become a haven of support and innovation for people losing their autonomy, a place of research and development open to companies in the sector and a training center for individuals and professionals.< /p>

A whole ecosystem of innovation and support

The Pole, which has already existed since 2009, on the initiative of Cyril Meunier's municipal team, is currently cramped in its premises on Place d'Aragon. The Center has already guided more than 12,000 people towards regained autonomy. « A big gamble for the town but we will be proud of it when we leave,” underlines the mayor, recalling on several occasions the free and importance of this service offered to everyone, Lattois or beyond.

The Cluster presents itself as a crossroads of innovations and services. Innovative equipment is available to be tested, occupational therapists offer personalized advice and training is offered to people losing their autonomy but also and especially to caregivers.

Partnerships with local companies, such as Asklé Santé present on site this February 23 and coming from Gard, specialist in anti-decubitus solutions, illustrate the cluster's commitment to improving the daily lives of users and to stimulate research into new assistance technologies while remaining in a logic of proximity.

Auditorium, Fablab…

The new building stands opposite Carrefour Lattes, along Avenue Georges-Frêche. In addition to the spaces dedicated to training and exhibition, a 150-seat auditorium and a FabLab (manufacturing laboratory) enrich the center's offering (read below).

Cyril Meunier insists on the desire to destigmatize the loss of autonomy, by offering a welcoming and aesthetically neat space, encouraging people to « through the door even before difficulties arise ».

The total cost of the project amounts to 8.48 million euros, financed in part by the State (1.77 million euros), the Region (1.53 million euros), the Metropolis (1 M€), and by a substantial investment from the municipality of 4.3 M€.

Aging well together

The President of the Region sees this project as a key component of her policy of “aging well together”, integrating the Health Autonomy Center into a global vision which includes other innovations such as the Respire project in Toulouse which brings together on the same site the key players in health, both public and private.

And, with aging well, it’s the whole “Silver economy” which is targeted « because we are the region of France where we live the oldest », recalled Carole Delga and that this economy must be supported because it generates « jobs and above all a better life ».
