A prize pool is online to support Vivien Sabot whose farm was vandalized in Vendémian. A race against time is underway to save the farm.
The sad event took place on the eve of the end-of-year holidays. The greenhouses of Vivien Sabot, an organic market gardener based in Vendémian, were vandalized during the night of December 23 to 24. The plastic sheets that sheltered his young plants were cut 50 cm from the ground, making them irreparable and non-reusable.
Although half of his vegetable production capacity has been destroyed, the farmer tries to maintain hope thanks to demonstrations of support from fellow farmers, the mayor of the town, residents and those around him. A race against time is now on. Indeed, if the market gardener finds a solution and the greenhouses are put back in place before the beginning of February, he will be able to save early plants such as tomatoes, ensure spring crops and continue his activity.
Race against time
Otherwise, he will be forced to file for bankruptcy. A prize pool was launched and 700 € on the 9,000 € necessary have already been collected. "People share a lot, it also helps on a moral level, I now hope that collective generosity will allow me to save my farm. In the meantime, I'm putting things into perspective, I won't let the perpetrator get to me as much as he would like, explains the farmer who stands firm in the face of the ordeal .
A claim report was made to the insurance companies which, however, will not compensate the damage caused, the greenhouses having been excluded from the contract to the surprise of the operator who thought they were covered… A declaration of deterioration was also made to the gendarmerie and a complaint against X will be filed.
