Heatwave alert: 45 departments placed on orange alert, thunderstorms expected on Tuesday… what to expect for the start of the week ?
|
Almost the entire territory will be on heatwave alert this Monday, August 12. A situation that should nevertheless change from Tuesday since storms are expected.
While 25 departments were placed on orange alert this Sunday, August 11, and monthly heat records have been set, Météo France has just extended the orange alert to 45 departments for Monday, August 12. The heat wave will therefore extend widely towards Paris and the northern half of the country.
Storms expected on Tuesday
The entire Île de France region is thus placed on orange alert. Heat spikes ranging from 36 to 38 °C will be felt in the South-East. Across the country, only the departments of Lozère and Manche are not on yellow or orange alert.
The next day, Tuesday 13 August, under the effect of storms, the heat wave is expected to head east. The scorching temperatures will be concentrated only in the Rhone Valley and our Mediterranean regions. Major storms could break out, mainly in the Pyrenees and in the north-east of France on Tuesday and Wednesday.
