Heatwave alert: 45 departments placed on orange alert, thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday… what to expect at the start of the week ?

Almost the entire territory will be on heatwave alert this Monday, August 12. A situation which should nevertheless change from Tuesday since storms are expected.

While 25 departments were placed on orange vigilance this Sunday, August 11, and monthly heat records were established, Météo France has just extended orange vigilance to 45 departments for the day of Monday, August 12. The heat wave will therefore widely extend towards Paris and the northern half of the country.

Thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday

The entire Île de France region is now on orange alert. Heat peaks ranging from 36 to 38°C will be felt in the South-East. Across the entire territory, only the departments of Lozère and Manche are not placed on yellow or orange vigilance.

The next day, Tuesday August 13, under the effect of storms, the heat wave should move towards the east. Scorching temperatures will be concentrated only in the Rhône valley and our Mediterranean regions. Heavy storms could break out, mainly in the Pyrenees and in the north-east of France on Tuesday and Wednesday.
