L’Hérault sera placé en vigilance orange canicule depuis ce mercredi 31 juillet jusqu’à vendredi 2 août, a annoncé la préfecture. Des températures maximales de 39 °C sont attendues.
The heatwave is coming to Montpellier. According to information published by the Hérault prefecture, the department will be placed on orange heatwave alert this Wednesday, July 31 at 12 p.m. Météo-France plans to maintain this alert level until Friday, August 2. Still rising for several weeks, the heat wave is causing temperatures that can reach 39 °C during the day and 25 °C at night.
Precautionary measures
Faced with the heat wave, the prefecture is calling for protective measures to be taken, particularly for vulnerable and isolated people. It is essential to drink water regularly, eat normally and limit physical activity, as well as avoid going out during the hottest hours of the day.
At home, it is advisable to close the shutters and windows during the day, air out at night and wet your body several times a day, in the shower or with a spray bottle, for example. It is also recommended to go to a cool or air-conditioned place for two or three hours a day and, in the event of discomfort or behavioral problems, to call a doctor immediately. The prefecture also calls for vigilance against the risk of hydrocution when swimming. To prevent it, wet your neck, head and arms and enter the water gradually.
