Heavy weapons shooting in Carnon: investigations are progressing, we know the lead favored by investigators on the attack on the SCH van

The investigation into the fatal shooting that targeted rapper SCH's entourage on August 26 is progressing. The investigations now seem to favor the theory of an extortion attempt orchestrated by the Marseille clan DZ Mafia.
Rapper SCH, real name Julien Schwarzer, 31, went on stage at the Dune Club where three security guards stood behind him. At the end of this summer, the famous nightclub near La Grande-Motte (Hérault) was full of vacationers who had come to attend his concert. Le Parisien reveals the lead considered by investigators.
30 gunshots
After a show lasting just over 30 minutes, SCH and some of his entourage left the venue in a rental car to head to a nearby luxury hotel. It was around 5am on Monday, August 26. An hour later, a van with several of his team members took to the road along the beach.
A little further on, a black Range Rover registered in Bouches-du-Rhône blocked their path. Two men got out, armed with Kalashnikovs, and fired nearly 30 shots. The bullets focused on the front passenger, who died on the spot. The driver, hit in the shoulder, was rushed to Montpellier hospital. The four other passengers, in shock, were unharmed.
SCH continued its concerts, notably at the Fête de l'Humanité near Paris and at the Golden Coast Festival near Dijon, where security was reinforced. He has remained silent on the case, except for a message posted on his social networks, paying tribute to his loved ones and calling for respect for the ongoing investigation.
Attempted extortion
The investigation, led by the gendarmes and the Montpellier judicial police, has not yet led to the arrest of the shooters. However, a main lead is emerging: SCH is the victim of an extortion attempt, with men demanding 300,000 euros from him. Investigators believe that this shooting was aimed at intimidating him rather than eliminating him. This racketeering practice could be linked to a criminal clan in Marseille, notably the DZ Mafia, already involved in violence against a backdrop of drug trafficking.
The attackers' vehicle and weapons were found abandoned in Lunel, suggesting that this clan, which is trying to expand its activities, is behind this attack. SCH, for his part, left Marseille several months ago, seeking to distance himself from these pressures which go back to his hometown.
