Her building has been squatted by fifty people for two years: the nightmare of a powerless owner despite a court decision

Despite a court ruling, a woman cannot return home and continues to pay the charges of her illegal occupants.

For two years Caroline Imerzoukene has been living a nightmare. Fifty people are squatting in her building in Montreuil in Seine-Saint-Denis. Despite a court ruling, they have still not been evicted and she must continue to pay the charges for the building she cannot enter.

The prefect did not intervene to enforce the court ruling and evict the squatters who have been on the premises since June 12, 2022.

Caroline assures that “to date, the prefecture has not given me any reason to justify its non-intervention”.

The occupants illegally built a wall

The owner also learned that the occupants, undocumented immigrants, had a wall illegally. She told Cnews of her concern: “If the wall collapses on one of the children, I'll be the one to go to prison, no one else. I'm having a hard time, very hard time".

Today, the owner cannot sell this building and is in financial difficulties.
