For the 41st European Heritage Days, this Saturday, September 21, and again throughout this Sunday, the city of Bagnols-sur-Cèze is exhibiting several of its most beautiful jewels. From the top of the Mallet tower, visitors can overlook the square and observe the roofs of the city center. Dating from the 15th century, the town hall is worth discovering; the archives on the ground floor host an exhibition on the old hospital, on the first floor, the wedding hall and the mayor's office will reveal all their secrets, including that of the Freemason Marianne and finally on the 2nd floor, visitors can admire the works of the Albert-André museum.
The original source and medieval atmosphere
Under Thome Square, the original source of the city, the large fountain is visible. The religious buildings (church and temple) are also open to the public. At 19 rue de la République, in a medieval atmosphere, Agnès Boutonnet, the happy owner of the private mansion, presents the history of her house, acquired in 2018. For a year, Agnès has begun a series of renovation works on the building built by Antoine Brutel in 1667 and classified as a historic monument in 2002. The porch and the door are currently under construction. In addition to the beautiful residence and its beautiful staircase, visitors can admire Sarah Ammon's paintings and chat with the artist. “I really want to bring this place to life, I have plans to organize concerts and plays” explains Agnès Boutonnet.
While several emblematic public or private buildings are still closed, the city of Bagnols has some lovely gems just waiting to be discovered.
