Heritage Days in Agde: the editorial team’s favorites

For three days – Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September – a rich programme is offered to the public.
Events all over the city and free, to boot. The European Days of Culture are also taking place in Agde, which is something to be welcomed. Because beyond the simple entertainment for a weekend, this event is above all a reminder of the incredible wealth of Agde's heritage, with 2,500 years of history (and probably much more, as current archaeological research attests) in the rearview mirror. Here is our selection.
Egypt comes to the Château Laurens
A month dedicated to Egypt opens at the Château Laurens, on the occasion of these Heritage Days. A study day on the theme of “Egyptomania at the Château Laurens around the figure of Cleopatra” is also organized on Saturday, September 21, which is also fully booked. The general public will be able to come and visit the château free of charge on Sunday, September 22, on the occasion of guided tours on the theme of “Ancient Egypt at the château”, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Everyone will be welcomed, but you will have to be patient!
So many boats, at Molière Island!
Serge Sénabré is a transmitter of memory. And a formidable collector, who never stops collecting photos and documents that evoke the history of Agde. In this respect, his exhibition “Maritime Heritage” is simply remarkable. A presentation of the fishing boats – Catalan, ox boats, trawlers, tuna boats – that were moored in the past on the quays of the town, as well as the fishermen and the rescue sailors. A colossal collection work that can be admired at the Molière block, within the grounds of the tourist office in the heart of the city (open every day until September 28, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). A guided tour is planned for Friday, September 20, at 2 p.m.
The unusual visit to the heart of the city
Directed by Géraldine Taulier, guide Arnaud Sanguy invites the public to discover the historic center of Agde through a theatrical and artistic stroll through the alleyways, Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to noon. A journey through time and history that has already captivated dozens of spectators last summer (no reservations required, departure from the tourist office in the heart of the city, Place de la Belle Agathoise).
The Théâtre agathois behind the scenes
The Théâtre agathois offers a concept that is, to say the least, original: step into the shoes of an artist to discover not only the theater's program, but also the workshops and meetings with artists who will make up the season. You can even win tickets! Departures every 1/2 hour on Saturday, September 21, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Also visit the museums of Agde
The Musée de l'Éphèbe and the Musée Agathois are of course part of the program. Friday 20, the Heritage Days will open at the Musée de l’Éphèbe at 6 p.m. in the presence of elected officials, before the conference by Benoît Devillers in connection with the exhibition “RivÂges, 20,000 evolution of the coastal landscape”, at 6:15 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, flying coastal guinguette at the entrance to the museum, guided tours of the “RivÂges” exhibition at 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., tours of the collections all day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Conference by Aliowen Evin on “Bioarchaeology: investigating plants, animals and landscapes of the past”, Saturday at 3:30 p.m., Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. At the Agathois Jules-Baudou museum (rue de la Fraternité), free visits Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., guided tours at 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
