Title holder and favorite, Thibaut Micoud, member of Alès ATAC, assumed his status and won the 34th edition of the Anduze Pentecost race on Sunday May 19 in 41’22&# 39;'.

There were lots of people in Anduze, Sunday May 19, for the 34th edition of the Pentecost Race, one of the oldest regional races which , this year, proposed a new circuit of 11,500 km using the greenway and the La Madeleine tunnel, then an ascending approach towards the Lacan massif. Another new feature: a start on Sunday morning, whereas since 1991, the event took place on Saturday afternoon.

A field of choice, therefore, among the 315 runners who were classified, and a great spectacle offered to the numerous public present on the course and, above all, on arrival in the Parc des Cordeliers.< /p>

Intractable Micoud

In his role as holder and favorite, Thibaut Micoud (Alès ATAC), who has just completed 2h25’ at the Paris marathon, once again proved irresistible, making the difference from the start of the long climb located halfway through. "Yes, I had good legs and this rising profile pleased me, as did the end of the race, technical and demanding", confided the Cévenol, victorious in 41’22''.

Two athletes from Courir à Beaucaire complete the podium: Thibaut Plantin (42’22'') and Nathan Martin, recent winner in Marguerittes (43’41'& ;#39;).

Among the women, Boukhelifa is ahead of the four-time winner of the event

Among the ladies, in the absence of the runner-up, Anne Gambaroto (Courir à Beaucaire), it was Nora Boukhelifa (Alès C2A), who made the show, also in the second part of the circuit, before registering his name on the list in 53’39''.

"It wasn't easy, but what a great journey!", rejoiced the&rsquo ;Alésienne, who beat Nîmoise Jana Lelut (55'13''), quadruple winner of the event, arriving neck and neck with the promising representative of ACN Anduze, Angélique Larguier, third in 55’16''.

200 children and emotion

It was then more than 200 children and adapted athletes who wet the swimsuits in a festive and colorful atmosphere, marked in particular by a warm Olympics parade.

There was also emotion during the awards ceremony, with the tribute paid to local runner Cyril Dumazert, who died during the 33rd edition. His running friends have not forgotten him.
