His parachute did not activate: a base jumper saved from drowning by fishermen in Aveyron

The man, of English nationality, set off from the Verrières viaduct on Sunday March 10.
The story could have been dramatic, especially on this day of flooding and strong currents in the rivers of the Aveyron. Sunday March 10, around 4 p.m., a base jumper attempted the big jump from the Verrières viaduct, despite the ban.
The man, who came from England for the occasion, was unable to activate his parachute in time and found himself trapped in a tree before falling into the Lumensonesque, the stream at the foot of the viaduct!
Saved by fishermen
Luckily, fishermen, who were nearby, managed to save him from drowning and bring him back to the banks. Several vehicles from the Millau fire rescue center then intervened to take charge of the base jumper.
The latter complained of back pain and was transported to Millau hospital. The gendarmerie also went to the site to hear the witnesses.
