MONTREAL – A development, aimed at reducing the speed of vehicles on Ontario street has raised many questions among residents of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve during its design.
Long yellow lines with hatching separate now the lane intended for vehicles of Ontario street between Bennett avenue and the rue Viau. The district indicates that this “marking of the central mall” is made to create a “ledge”virtual.
The objective is to reduce the speed in this sector and improve compliance with the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of the rue Théodore. Many signs remind us to respect the pedestrian priority.
The space between the two yellow lines, however, remained empty for some time before being striped of the new traits. During this development, the residents have thought that it was a reserved space for the pedestrians or for cyclists to the centre of the tract.
