The image of the Hubble space telescope showed what will happen when our galaxy will collide with the Andromeda galaxy
A rare image of two colliding galaxies demonstrates what happens in the last minutes of life of the Earth. The photo shows how the centers of galaxies – two black holes collide and merge together, causing a cosmic explosion of gigantic proportions, writes the Chronicle.info with reference for Today.
In such event, the scientists saw the future of reflection “the end of the world” when our galaxy the milky Way will collide with its closest neighbor the Andromeda Nebula.
Experts from the University of Maryland surveyed hundreds of nearby galaxies using the WM Keck Observatory in Hawaii and the Hubble space telescope of NASA.
The team was looking for the hidden active black holes sifting through the pictures for the last 10 years in x-ray range. So it was recorded 450 of colliding galaxies in which black holes approached just before they merged into one giant black hole.
The merger of the black holes formed a powerful explosion, which is felt even on Earth in the form of gravitational waves – ripples in space-time, recently discovered by scientists.
Many of the black holes, located at 330 million light-years from Earth, was about the same size as the milky way and Andromeda, which shows us how to be a collision of our galaxy with a neighboring black holes will merge and form a shock wave of incredible power that can destroy all life on Earth. It will happen in 4 billion years.
