Alexis Jandard was participating in a diving demonstration when he slipped on the diving board before falling on his back and falling into the water.

Under the eyes of Macron

All this under the eyes of Emmanuel Macron and the Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castéra who came to inaugurate the aquatic center of the Olympic Games in Saint-Denis in the Paris suburbs. On Thursday, he reacted with humor to his misadventure: "It’is the time to winnow", a-t -he commented on Instagram.

Have fun, it’s time to brag because frankly, I deserve to wow

"Okay, it’s time. I'm speaking up because with what happened, I think you want a little debrief. Everything is fine, I didn't hurt myself. There was a little blood but it's not serious, it won't stop me from going to train this afternoon. I had a little weakness on my leg, it made me fall. I fell in front of the President of the Republic, I fell in front of all of France."

"Have fun, it’s time to brag because frankly, I deserve to wow", he continued, laughing. The 26-year-old diver, qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 3 m synchronized event, then published a photo of his back with large scratches and traces of blood.

A fall without consequences

Jandard won a bronze medal at the World Swimming Championships in 2023. Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the aquatic center which will host the artistic swimming, diving and water polo events during the Games.

Alexis Jandard said on Friday on the RMC channel that he had received a telephone call from the Minister of Sports to inquire about the consequences of his fall. "I I didn't speak with the president but I received a call from the Minister of Sports because they were a little worried. We weren't able to meet each other because there was always a lot of movement. She, like many others, was worried about my physical state because we are still three months away from the Games."
