"I want to do my bit," assures Clément Doumenc, new center of Béziers

After five months of drought, the third row says he is hungry for rugby. Midi Libre – Laurent François

The former captain of US Carcassonne, who joined Montpellier three seasons ago, is one of Béziers' recruits. This Friday, he will play his first match with ASBH at Valence Romans.

What club did you find when you arrived in Béziers ?

I found a simple club with a great history. We feel an expectation, a strong enthusiasm behind it. We feel that the city lives for ASBH. I also found a healthy, family-oriented group.

What state of mind are you in before playing your first match with Béziers?

I am very determined. I have a lot of desire. I am coming out of two very frustrating and complicated years. It has been five months since I played. I need to find my bearings in a new group and get back into rhythm. But I am full of desire and I want to do my bit to build this club.

What changes in Pro D2 compared to the Top 14??

In Pro D2, it is a little slower and more focused on the combat phases, the conquest. You have to get used to it again because it is not the same game.

What did you think of the match against Biarritz??

We came up against a team that was in place defensively. Offensively, the BO didn't offer much. It took us a while to find the solution strategically.

What are the areas that your team worked on this week?

This defeat resets the counters to zero and makes us forget last year. I think that this will allow us to focus on the fundamentals, the basics of the game, before showing the rugby of last season again. We need to refocus on ourselves, love the dark spots, the conquest, the work, the forward play and then, when we master all that, we will progress.

Valence Romans will therefore be a very good test, right?

We must not forget that the Drômois are coming off two defeats, including one, the last, at home against Dax (29-32). They are a very solid team. We expect a big fight, but we know it and we are ready.

In your opinion, at what level will this game be played??

It should be played on conquest, discipline. I don't see a very open match. We will have to have a cool head and be very precise.
