After 12 days of searching and mystery, Martin Carpentier was eventually found lifeless, has confirmed the Safety of Quebec, on the Monday evening.
“[T]he body of a man was found in the area of Saint-Apollinaire to 19h. Any door to believe that it would be Martin Carpentier”, announced the police on Twitter.
This is a public information which was traced to the body of Carpentier. The “initial findings” of the police are that the man, 44-year-old had taken his own life, states the SQ.
The remains would have been located on a land wood-of the rang Saint-Lazare, according to our information, just outside the perimeter of 50 square kilometers raked meticulously by the police for several days. This would also be only a few kilometres from where the bodies of his daughters were found on 11 July.
This discovery comes on the same day as the funeral of his daughters, Norah, age 11, and Romy, 6 years, was celebrated in Lévis.
Maxime Roy, the lawyer for the mother of the girls, Amélie Lemieux, has indicated to the Journal that the family had “not intended” to respond to the discovery of the body, at least Martin Carpentier is not properly identified.
Martin Carpentier was disappeared from a road accident involving his vehicle on the evening of 8 July. The next day, an Amber alert was triggered to find his two daughters, Carpentier being identified as the primary suspect in their abduction. It was not until two days later that the bodies of Norah and Romy have been discovered, putting an end to the longest Amber alert in Quebec’s history.
