“Impressive massive build”: a carp weighing over 40 kilos caught in a lake in France

Une énorme carpe a été pêchée dans un lac à proximité de Dijon ce mercredi 18 septembre. Après la pesée, le poisson fait plus de 40 kilos, un poids impressionnant.

A record carp ? This is the question that the Arc Fishing association is asking itself after the capture of a carp weighing over 40 kilos. On Wednesday, September 18, Thibault Perrier, a local fisherman, pulled a huge specimen out of the Arc-sur-Tille lake in Burgundy.

In In a Facebook post, the association evokes   "an exceptional fish with an impressive massive corpulence that made our enthusiast sweat until it was put in the landing net".

A potential record ?

First weighed at 42.1 kilos, the fish, after removing the weight of the sling, finally weighs 40 .5 kilos. Added to this impressive weight is the size of the animal, 1.37 meters. An imposing carp therefore, which could, according to the association, constitute a “European record, or even a world record”.

Information to be qualified however, since, as our colleagues from France 3 remind us, other fishermen have already claimed carp weighing more than 40 kilos. Still is -he said that the fish is one of the largest of its species. “There is no doubt that other unknown subjects inhabit the lake, with the fishing that is intensifying this may reserve us some nice surprises" ;quot;, hopes the association.
