In a Montpellier grocery store, police discover cigarette cartons and nitrous oxide

Plusieurs mois d'enquête ont permis d'établir que des clients venaient se fournir en tabac dans ce commerce situé boulevard Berthelot, près de l'avenue de Toulouse.

Surveillance carried out since the end of January allowed the police to establish that a grocery store on Boulevard Berthelot, near Avenue de Toulouse, in Montpellier, was selling tobacco to ;a regular clientele. Another element confirmed the investigators' suspicions: regular comings and goings between the business and a car parked nearby.

On March 7, at 7:50 a.m., the police carried out a control operation in the store. And as they expected, behind the counter they discovered 58 packs of cigarettes, 13 packs of rolling tobacco, but also nitrous oxide (laughing gas).

Investigations also confirmed that the vehicle parked nearby was used as a storage location. Inside were 70 cartons of cigarettes and packets of tobacco.

The grocery store employee, seen going to get supplies, was arrested and placed in police custody. Aged 23, she was finally released. She should be the subject of legal proceedings. The police are continuing their investigation into those responsible for the business.
