Associations and political parties threw flowers in the Gardon d’Alès this Saturday, March 23 "in memory of the civilians killed" in the Middle East conflict.

They remain faithful to the appointment they have set for themselves since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.

This Saturday, March 23, a new demonstration "for an immediate ceasefire"was held in the city center of Alès. Around sixty people, associations and political parties, including the PCF and LFI, have been calling for many weeks for an end to the fighting and for mobilization against the State of Israel, accused of &quot ;commit genocide" by some demonstrators.

Throwing flowers, Hermitage and war memorial

After a parade in the streets of the heart of the city, the demonstrators gathered on the Pont-Vieux, from where they released flowers into the waters of the Gardon, in "memory to the killed civilians" in Gaza. "Our presence is for all the victims", responds the elected official communist Jean-Michel Suau, when asked about support for civilians killed by Hamas attacks.

After the flower throwing this Saturday, the demonstrators plan, next Saturday, March 30, to go to the top of the Hermitage after a rally in front of the town hall. Saturday April 6, they announce to pay tribute to the dead in front of the Alès war memorial. For this meeting, "s’they make the request to the sub-prefect, and if it is validated, we will not be able to oppose their coming in front of the monument& quot;, says the Alès town hall.
