L’intersyndicale du Gard rhodanien avait appelé à se rassembler ce jeudi à 18 h, autour du monument aux morts.
At the call of the inter-union (CGT, FO, FSU, Solidaires), around 150 people (including the legislative candidate for the New Popular Front Sabine Oromi and her replacement Vincent Poutier) met this Thursday , at 6 p.m., around the war memorial to call for "a democratic and social surge. Otherwise, the extreme right will come to power". Among the demonstrators, Léa, a young lady, present because’"we don't want fascists in power". Jean-Luc, for his part, recalls that his mother lived through the exodus, "I am here by conviction".
Corinne Place, teacher and FSU representative, explains: "I am very worried about the future of our country. It is important to mobilize, to vote against the RN, and for progressive values, such as respect for people, diversity, and gender equality. Macron has hunted on the lands of the extreme right. Union representatives castigate seven years of “anti-social laws”, a president who has brought to ” anger, to despair".
Fears for global and union freedoms
Patrick Lescure (CGT) points out that for the pension reform, the law was not voted on, but was forced through (49.3), "while there is money, and there have never been so many millionaires, dividends paid to CAC 40 shareholders". As for Marta Nicolas, for Solidaires, she strongly fears for the “global and union freedoms. The RN is not going to do anything for the people. They are going to privatize”. “Everywhere they have power, the laws voted are regressive, they attack head-on the rights of unions and employees” completes Patrick Lescure. “Whatever the results of the elections, we will always be there to defend employees”, hammered Louise Moulas (FO). The inter-union also recalled that the RN deputies had voted against the increase in the minimum wage.
