In Béziers, March 8 will be feminist... and social

L'intersyndicale CGT, Sud Solidaires, CFDT, FSU et UNSA appelle à la mobilisation pour la Journée internationale des droits des femmes, devant la Bourse du travail.

A naked woman covered in chocolate… to praise the chocolate salon; another only dressed in black garbage bags to explain the city's sorting solutions; or legs sheathed in silk and shod with high heels for the announcement of the descent on demand, in the evening, for bus passengers. So many photos, published in the Journal du Biterrois, which illustrate "the sexism" of its publishing director, Robert Ménard. In any case according to Magalie Laffaille, of the CGT: "All these images are shocking, sexist, or vulgar, she laments. So we put them in parallel with others, which illustrate the different feminist struggles, from equal pay and sexism in the workplace."

This exhibition will be one of the key elements of the mobilization called for by the Béziers inter-union association, on March 8 at 10:30 a.m., at the Labor Exchange, on the occasion of International Women's Rights Day. A day that will be feminist, but also social. "Everything is linked, says teacher Françoise Le Bris, from Sud Solidaire. If women were paid the same salary as men, these additional contributions would have resolved the pension deficit, without making any reforms." Women, in Biterrois, are " part-time workers endured for nursing assistants or cashiers, salaries of 800 euros per month for educational assistants, adds Carole Tarbouriech, from the CFDT, who will add her own images to this exhibition, those of the leaders of the rope, these "essential women" to the proper functioning of society.

At the CGT, at the Unsa or at the FSU, everyone also notices that this year the participation of men in this day of March 8 is more sustained. "We need a real feminist revolution and we, as men, must also participate in it, affirms Jean Marc Biau, PCF regional advisor. Over the last four years, we have counted twelve politicians involved in sexual violence. If they are convicted, they should no longer be eligible."
