It's 9 o'clock, the Flânerie is waking up. The first food shops have opened their doors and for a while now, people have been busy around the displays of the Flânerie butcher's shop. An address founded in 1981 and which, summer after summer, is becoming more and more part of the Capagathoise postcard.

“Patou” started at 13 with his uncle André

In the lab, the boss of the house, Patrice Gualtieri, “Patou” for his friends, is in the kitchen to prepare the dozens of recipes that will expand the delicatessen section, an activity that was added to the traditional butchery when he came to lend a hand to his uncle André, creator of the brand, who passed away last May. “I worked with him in the summer from the age of 13”, the head of the company remembers with emotion. “I really joined after finishing my studies at the hotel school, then I took over the business with my partner Christian Cauquil.” The latter handed over after fifteen years of collaboration, so much so that today, Patrice works with his wife Gladys, his daughter Mélissa and his two boys, Nicolas and Grégory. A family atmosphere that undoubtedly helps him cope better with the long working days, from Easter to the end of September. “It's going well”, confirms Patrice, who sees another advantage: “at least I know where my children are! "

Loyal customers for many years

Nicolas, the eldest, after a BTS in banking and management, will finally stay working with his father, while the youngest of the family, Grégory, would like to open a restaurant after hotel school, Mélissa continuing her studies in Paris. But in the summer, for the siblings, it's at La Flânerie that it's happening. It must be said that most of the customers know them well."I still serve people who knew me “petit” , laughs “Patou”, who has no equal when it comes to retaining the loyalty of local apartment owners. With his very local accent, the native of Pézenas, who grew up in Lamalou, is never short of an anecdote or a good word. A successful vacation also involves the good humor of the shopkeepers.
