Scientists have discovered a frog named “Mysticellus”, which in Latin translates as “mysterious” and “miniature”.
The researchers found the “mysterious” frog after three years of extensive research and confirmed that it represents an entirely new species. Currently, the only known population of the open form is located in the roadside area.
“Our discovery of a new species of frogs in the most studied and researched areas in the Western Ghats indicates that the description of amphibians in this globally recognized point of biodiversity is still far from complete,” said Sonali Garg, a postgraduate student of Delhi University who have discovered a new species.
It is believed that this frog is still undetected, because most of the year it leads a hidden way of life, coming to light only for a couple of days in the year for mating.
Earlier it was reported that in the caves of Thailand was discovered frog from a previously unknown kind.
