The Kyiv city Council endorsed the target program of development of transport infrastructure of the city for the years 2019-2023, the press service of the KSCA, reports the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to liga.net.
Under the program, the Kyiv authorities plan to focus on infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport, “whereas previously, a significant attention was paid only to the development of new roads and automobileindia”.
“The total budget of the programmes for five years, to 76.4 billion. Also the goal of the program is the introduction of the cashless fare payment in public transport and e-ticket with a wide range of rates, added the Council.
According to the KSCA, because of a previous approach to the development of transport infrastructure of the city, in Kiev over the past three years the number of officially registered vehicles grew by more than 15% (excluding “EuroBLECH”).
“According to forecasts of experts, by 2025 the capital will be 60% more cars. Now the capital’s bridges are overloaded, the tram network is degraded, and in General in the city there are no associated infrastructure. The target program is designed to solve these problems,” – said in the KSCA.
