A blue collar of the City of Montreal has lived hours agonizing, on Wednesday morning, stuck to the edge of his dump truck to a rest, upside down, on the edge of the service road of highway 40, in the east of the metropolis.

The spectacular accident happened around 9: 15 p.m., in the ramp leading to the boulevard Bourget from the service road of the metropolitan expressway.

For some unknown reason, the driver would have made a violent exit from the road and his dump truck – identified with the colors of the borough of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve – found the four irons in the air, in the middle of the ramp.

According to our information, the lower members of the blue collar were stuck under the wheel of the truck, thus preventing evacuation of the cabin.

With the help of two remorqueuses that stabilized the truck, the emergency services have worked tirelessly for more than two hours before they finally succeed in pulling the truck driver out of his unfortunate position.

It was at this time conscious and was suffering from injuries to the lower body. He was rushed to the hospital in order to undergo the appropriate treatment.

An investigation was opened by the Montreal police to try to establish the cause and circumstances surrounding this accident, that could easily take a turn much more tragic.

The standards Commission, equity, health and safety in the workplace (CNESST) will also focus on the causes of this accident at work.

The incident has forced the closure of a portion of the service road of highway 40 and boulevard Bourget. This has obviously caused a major traffic jam in the area.
