Scientists announced the existence in the system of Proxima Centauri, another exoplanet
The star Proxima Centauri has found another super-earths
Held in Berkeley forum Discuss Breakthrough was announced about the possible existence in the system of another exoplanet. Scientists using the HARPS spectrograph working at the Observatory of La Silla, was able to detect the planet nearest from the Sun star – Proxima Centauri, which is from us at a distance of 4.2 light years.
According to preliminary data, the detected planet belongs to a class of versamel – mass planet is about 6 times the mass of Earth. Habitability, however, it is unlikely due to the fact that the planet is too far from the star, one and a half times further than us from the Sun. Also a planet makes a complete revolution around the orbit 1936 our day, so it stays too cold, so that on its surface could be liquid water.

While we are talking only about the candidate to the opening, and these first observations require confirmation, said speaking at the conference, an astrophysicist at the Observatory of Turin Mario Damasso (Mario Damasso).
This is not the first planet recorded at Proxima Centauri. In 2016, the star was discovered planet, which was comparable to Earth in size and distance to stars, making it potentially habitable. Named it Proxima Centauri b. Not surprisingly, soon appeared the idea of sending to the system the first interstellar missions – project Breakthrough Starshot support known enough scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs.
