There was emotion at Mas Marguerite, this Friday, September 20 at lunchtime, to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the nursing home. And also pride for the Serrou, father and son, at the origin of the creation of the establishment on rue de l'Abrivado.
This long-term project that the Serrou family wanted to see come to fruition was a recurring topic during Sunday meals. The meeting between the Serrou and Pierre Dudieuzère, then mayor of the town, who also wanted to create such a structure in Vendargues, did the rest.
Mas Marguerite opened its doors in September 2009 and was inaugurated in November by André Vézinet, then president of the Hérault departmental council.
Since then, the Mas has continued to evolve, with today around sixty residents and always focusing on their well-being, through numerous activities, manual or intellectual, giant animals with flamboyant colors in the green spaces, or small gardens at human height allowing everyone to gardening.
"Good treatment is fundamental"
Many personalities took part in this anniversary day: Guy Lauret, the mayor of Vendargues, of course, but also Pierre Dudieuzère who initiated this project, or even Senator Jean-Pierre Grand, Professor Claude Jeandel, geriatrician at the Antonin-Balmès University Hospital, or Perla Danan, president of the CRIF in the region.
Doctor Jean-Pierre Serrou, manager of the structure, accompanied by his father, Doctor Bernard Serrou, regulating physician within the Ehpad, were touched not only by the presence of these distinguished guests, but also by that of the residents' families, who came in large numbers.
Jean-Pierre and Bernard Serrou wanted to thank the staff of Mas Marguerite for their commitment, their strength and the energy deployed daily for the well-being of the residents.
Before everyone sat down to eat, Jean-Pierre Serrou insisted: "We are always in compassion. Good treatment is fundamental."
