Indoor public spaces: study “very intense” of the obligation of wearing a mask

Espaces publics intérieurs: étude «très intense» de l'obligation du port du masque

JOLIETTE | Quebec, public health is studying a “very intense” option to make it mandatory for the mask in enclosed public places.

This is what was stated by its national director, Dr. Horacio Arruda, the day after the announcement by the mayor of Montréal, Valérie Plante, the implementation of such a measure in the metropolis as of 27 July.

“I can’t move forward today. This is not up to me to make this announcement, if there is a requirement to wear a mask for the entire population of Quebec or of certain territories. But we are in a very intense situation given what we have seen in recent weeks,” said Dr. Arruda at a press conference in Joliette, in the Lanaudière region.

It explained to have to take into account the advantages and disadvantages of the implementation of such a measure before you make the recommendation to the government Legault. He added that he wanted first to convince the general population of the importance of complying with the health measures already in place before you make anybody.

Dr. Arruda has also stated to have been made aware of the announcement of Valérie Plant that just a few minutes before.

“Mrs. Plant called or not, this is not my priority, I shall not pass energy on it”, he said adding focus on the awareness of the public in respect of the measures already put in place.
