A man in his thirties has been arrested by authorities after falling asleep on highway 20 between Saint-Nicolas and Saint-Rédempteur, on Thursday morning.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has received several calls from motorists concerned about the driving “very erratically” from another driver on the Trans-canada highway, at about 4 o’clock in the morning.
The individual in question came to rest on the highway after falling asleep at the wheel of his car. The peace officers have therefore intercepted and placed under arrest for driving while impaired by alcohol.
“Results [of the breathalyzer] indicate that he blew nearly double the legal limit,” says the spokesman of the Sûreté du Québec, Anik Lamirande.
The man of thirty years from the greater Quebec city region has, however, been released to quickly and will return to court for “later”.
There are no reports, fortunately no injuries in this incident, given that the other motorists “have realized that he was a true danger to the public and did not dare to exceed it”, says one.
