Iran: Revolutionary Guard member shot and killed< /p> UPDATE DAY

A member of the Revolutionary Guards, Iran's ideological army, was shot and killed in Isfahan on Monday, according to state media. 

He was shot dead in an armed attack in this town in the center of the country, said deputy local governor Mohammad-Réza Jannessari, quoted by the Irna news agency.

An investigation is underway to identify “the authors” of the attack, he added without further details.

In mid-November in Isfahan, two assailants on a motorcycle fired at the automatic weapon on security officers, killing a police colonel and two paramilitaries.

Monday's attack came as the Islamic Republic of Iran has been rocked by a wave of protests since the death on September 16 of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd arrested by vice police for violating Iran's strict dress code.

Dozens of people, mainly protesters in May s also members of the security forces, have been killed since the start of the protest, according to the authorities.
