Is the release of the next film by Jacques Doillon, accused of sexual violence by several actresses, postponed ?

La sortie en salle du nouveau film de Jacques Doillon, intitulé "CE2", est finalement reportée. Le réalisateur est accusé par plusieurs actrices, parmi lesquelles Judith Godrèche, de violences sexuelles.

The production of the film, which had nevertheless maintained this date following accusations of sexual violence against the filmmaker, announced this Tuesday, February 27 that its theatrical release was "postponed" until further notice, according to our colleagues from World. 

"Neither possible nor desirable to maintain this date"

The 79-year-old director is the subject of an investigation for rape and sexual assault opened by the Paris prosecutor's office after the complaint filed by Judith Godrèche. The actresses Anna Mouglalis and Isild le Besco also blame Jacques Doillon. 

In this context, producer Bruno Peserey considered that it was "neither possible nor desirable to maintain this release date" . According to him, it was important that the decision to release this feature film “was not received as an expression of deafness or indifference with regard to the accusations made against its author: they are serious, we took stock of them from the first hour, he said in a press release cited by RTL. 

Actress Norah Hamzawi against her theatrical release

The actress Norah Hamzawi, who plays one of the main roles in CE2 with Alexis Manenti, had already opposed the broadcast of this film in cinemas. "I do not support this decision which, ;after me, represents contempt for the words of women", she commented on social networks.

For his part, Jacques Doillon announced his intention to file a complaint for defamation against Judith Godrèche.
