This Thursday, August 29th marked the end of the Jeudis de Nîmes 2024 edition.
And the curtain has closed… The Jeudis de Nîmes once again brought the city's streets to life this summer. Between concerts, entertainment and gourmet tastings, this 30th edition, from July 4th to August 29th, captured the attention of locals and tourists every Thursday evening. Valentine Wolber, deputy delegate for shops, commercial events and the revitalization of Nîmes city center, draws up an initial assessment.
Appreciated new features
"This 30th edition of the Jeudis de Nîmes was a great edition." This year again, several new features marked the festivities. The pedestrianization of rue Auguste was particularly appreciated, creating a pleasant link between the Maison Carrée and the Square Antonin. “It was a great idea, it enriched the visitor experience”, explains Valentine Wolber.
On the Place de l'Abbé Pierre, the brewers' area has grown and quickly established itself as the haunt of craft beer lovers. "We want to perpetuate this space, which has been a great success, and offer more opportunities to traders in the future," she says. And it's not just hop lovers who have been delighted! The concerts, spread across the city centre, have also been very popular, attracting a wide audience, including tourists. “Although we don't have precise figures at the moment, tourists were particularly numerous every Thursday to stroll through the streets of Nîmes.”
Eyes fixed on 2025
On the side of local traders, we have also felt the positive repercussions of this influx: “Food shops around Costières have done particularly well", notes Valentine Wolber. Proof that good music and good food go together irresistible…
The curtains have barely closed, and the 2025 edition is already looming. In the future, the deputy mayor would like to extend the activities even further into the adjacent streets "which is the original aim of the Jeudis de Nîmes" and plans to introduce a tasting tour for local winegrowers. “We want to continue to diversify the attractions and irrigate every corner of the city center.” See you next year!
