It was carnival on the Wednesday market

Children dressed up, elected official presents and confetti galore…

Wednesday morning, in the parking lot of the André-Chamson school, young and old, with the stallholders, had arranged to meet, disguised or not, to party on the market at the occasion of carnival. Under the sun, a small improvised parade was formed under the confetti, in a joyful din, led by Claudine Cartoux, president of the neighborhood committee, dressed for the occasion as Marinette. This allowed children to enter into the character of a superhero: Batman, Captain America, a giant Pikachu, Cruella, young or old witches!

The mayor, Jean-Paul Fournier, was represented by Carole Solana, deputy delegate for social housing and solidarity, president of the Mas de Mingue-Courbessac neighborhood council: "We are already seeing some world this winter in this local producers' market, it's promising for the future and for this summer! I encourage the committee's initiative to organize a carnival with the participation of residents and schools."

During this school holiday period, parents and children came together to spend a wonderful moment of freedom and joy. The disguised children received surprise gifts, small toys, biscuits and cakes, in a carnival musical atmosphere. A highlight as the Mas de Ville market has been in existence for six months.

A market that "must be known to the people of Nîmes"

The baker Yohan, who comes from Bezouce, < i>"sells organic, several varieties of bread, fougasses, Nîmes pâtés… I have a very good clientele that is not yet large enough, very happy to come back to see us every Wednesday." Miguelito, former banderillero of Fourques, today a caterer cooking specialties like paella, felt, for his part, that it is " a good little neighborhood market. He is warm. There is a bit of a lack of customers, but it is winter. This market, in my opinion, will grow, I hope it does for me and for all the stallholders."

A caterer joined in his comments by the fishmonger Gérard Liquère, who set up a stall in Les Halles 20 years ago before touring the local markets: "On my stand , I present local fishing products from Grau-du-Roi, some from Sète, and everything that is filet comes from the ocean. The Mas de Ville market is a very beautiful market. There are a few crowds missing at the moment, but it's the beginning. I think it will develop because we find beautiful and good products; the City has relied on the quality of local traders Now, the people of Nîmes need to know about it."
