“It’s very serious”: fired, he enters an RATP depot, gets on a bus and goes on duty for several hours

Ce 9 mai 2024, un ex-chauffeur de la RATP s’est présenté sur son ancien lieu de travail afin de prendre un bus et part en service pendant plusieurs heures.

He is back on duty. A former RATP employee had no longer worked for the transport company since March of this year. Whoever was the driver managed to break into a depot and board a bus and do a shift for almost two hours. The RATP decides to file a complaint, reports France Bleu.

"It’is very serious"

The story begins at the Lagny-sur-Marne bus center, in the Île-de-France region. The man came to the guard claiming he had forgotten something. Once he returned to the site, he managed to "evade surveillance and get behind the wheel of a vehicle", indicate our colleagues.

On board the bus, he leaves on the route of line 46, which was one of his work lines, and drives for almost two hours, from 8 h  nbsp;55 to 10 h 46 exactly. He decides to return to the depot, bring back the vehicle and leave as if nothing had happened.

Following this "loan", his photo is distributed on the various sites so that the’ former driver does not repeat. The next day, he boarded another bus, this time to Lilas. But he is quickly spotted and the police intervene. The man is then arrested and taken into police custody.

"It’is very serious. Luckily that this machinist who was fired had no dangerous intention of throwing the bus into the Seine or worse still", confirms Ahmed Berrahal, elected CGT at the RATP, quoted by France Blue. His action is not without risk, since he faces up to 5 years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros. The RATP also attacks the security company which allowed the man to enter even though he was no longer in possession of his badge.
