The French-Jacqueline Wild, became a symbol of domestic violence after his conviction for the murder of her husband’s violent and then pardoned, died, and his funeral took place on Tuesday, announced on Wednesday his entourage.
According to the regional daily newspaper of The Republic of the Centre, which has revealed the information, she died at the age of 72 on July 23, at his home in The Selle-sur-le-Bied, in the centre of the France, town of a thousand inhabitants in which was forged the drama of marriage.
Sylvie, a daughter of Jacqueline Wild, confirmed by SMS to the AFP his death, stating that “the ceremony took place yesterday”.
In 2012, Jacqueline Wild had killed her husband of three rifle shots in the back after you have suffered for 47 years its violence, including sexual, of which her four children have also been victims. His act had intervened in the aftermath of the suicide of their son.
Sentenced to ten years in prison in first instance and on appeal at the end of 2015, it was ultimately pardoned by the then president, François Hollande, in December 2016, after four years behind bars.
His case was moved to the women’s associations, representatives of the world of culture, of political leaders. A petition calling for his release had garnered nearly 436.000 signatures.
“I am extremely sad, I am very shocked”, told AFP one of his lawyers, Nathalie Tomasini.
“Jacqueline Wild, by its history, by its case, participated to raise awareness about the existence of these women who have fought for years in the confined space family and the omerta of the company,” she said.
“It is the journey of a woman who suffered a martyr’s death in the lockup of the family but also after, on account of the misunderstanding of the magistrates”, she added.
